The Spirits of Coeur d'Alene
While I was studying Russian for the Army in Montery, CA I started oil painting as a hobby. The above painting was my ideal world, which it turns out twenty years later, is Coeur d'Alene. The resort is in the upper left corner, there are sidewalks and private driveways out front and spacious green areas, there's a mound and a beach and a lake.
Generally, there's a splendorous intermingling of the cosmopolitan and the natural, and that's what I wanted to paint. Six months after I looked my heart in the mirror, I realized I had painted Coeur d'Alene twenty years before I ever saw it. Inside the painting are prophetic depictions of spiritual battles!
